Howie grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y.  By the age of 14 he was in a band playing drums and built and operated the sound system. He later turned that love of sound into a career. In 1969 he joined the 2nd oldest AMA motorcycle club in the country, Queensboro MC est. 1910. Over several summers, he and a friend, biked and camped their way across 2/3 of the USA and parts of Canada.

In 1975, Howie started operating sound systems for local bands and clubs, and later traveled parts of the country with the band Thrills, who put out 3 albums. He also owned and operated a recording studio and gave private instruction in recording, TV audio, and live sound system operation. In 1984 Howie was asked to work at Madison Square Garden for their TV Network. He became the Senior Audio Engineer and retired after 30 years there.

Howie, and his wife Anita, have enjoyed sailing and diving for over 20 years. They sailed their boat Tiki throughout Long Island Sound. They have chartered through most of the Caribbean, especially enjoying Guadeloupe and St Vincent to Grenada, including the Tobago Cays. They enjoy live-aboard diving and have visited Belize, Roatan, Saba, St Kitts and many other Caribbean islands.

We thoroughly enjoy the BYC and are active in several clubs. Howie is also on the Finance, Long Range Planning and Communications committees, and Anita is on the Entertainment committee. We value our time spent there with friends and sailing Tiki, our newer and bigger boat.
